The scientific description of the brain spans over multiple scales of description ranging from molecular biology to psychology. In my research, I am interested in the structure of the scales of description in the brain. To study it, I use a combination of mathematical modelling and machine learning tools, the main one is an unsupervised deep learning model that performs pattern recognition. I use the model to find abstract description levels of data such as neuronal recordings and analyze them.
